Hi Barbara,
When you are printing an RGB tif (or jpeg, for that matter) from Quark,
make sure that you are using "composite RGB" print colors (in the
"Output" tab of the print dialog). If you use CMYK, Quark converts your
RGB to some unknown, very poor, CMYK color space. If you select
"composite RGB", the RGB color goes through untouched, but beware! If
you select "composite RGB" and you are printing CMYK tifs and jpegs, it
will convert your CMYK to an unknown, very poor RGB color space! These
conversions can even affect vector elements in Quark!
When you use OPI, you're using the original unconverted files, so your
color is ok.
Another way to get around this is to save the files as EPS, as someone
else on this thread has suggested. EPS files are not affected by the
"bad Quark conversion".
By the way, has anyone tried the "As Is" Output setting in Quark 6? Does
this disable these conversions? It sounds promising and I've wanted to
try it, but I haven't had the time to test it.
Thanks!
