Hello Angus Pady
What Delta e you mean when you say 90- 95% matching?
Alex.
I would translate a 90-95 percent match to a average of 2 delta E and
max of 4-5. I measure my Dupont Waterproof film proof (used as a visual
and colorimetric standard when no press is involved) which I have a
series of colour swatches from Fogra and Besteye. I use the compare
function on my X-Rite 530 and get a quick Delta E or use my Eye-one
with Best Remote Proof to get a more thorough evaluation. With the
custom profiling I mentioned I use the Best ColorProof for the Designer
Edition or the Folio for the Adesso product and create custom profiles
for the customer's media. This can then be ported over to the clients
RIP. The colour matching is no different in the lower-end products,
just the functionality.
I would also translate a 90-95 percent match as one that is considered
an acceptable match by the person paying for my time. Generally I have
little arguments about is it close enough. Given proper viewing
conditions, paper, ink, moon phase, and the mood of those evaluating.
