I like my LaCie LCD very much. I agree that the Formac is not a screen for
retouching or photographic work. The better LaCie screens are all carefully
thought out and have professional color applications in mind. I profile with
Gretag i1 Display 2 with Match 3.0 and the calibration and profile is very
nice. It also has a very nice side by side match to my 22" CRT.
I think CRT monitors will be leaving the market quickly.
You might want to avoid CRT's if you can.
There are still some things I don't like on even the best of LCD screens
such as graduations in skin due to the pixel edge sharpness and squareness
(according to Eizo) yet that's the way we're obliged to go. In terms of
greys, LCD are nice. Text renders well, vectors stay on the grid, etc
without distortion.
Do consider the warranty as it's important to have at least 3 yrs and decent
repair support.
