Hi all

I can not realy belive this:

Most shops still apply a curve at the plate setter. Some are beginning to
set up linear and build a profile to handle this compensation. These shops
use a profile to profile (mostly CMYK to CMYK) transformation before the
plate setter or in the CTP Rip instead of the curve.

That would mean to me a new Separation with a changed grayballance and blackgeneration depending on the profiles used. This is what you do for Proofers, but I think it is not a good idea for Plates: Imagine a 100% Yellow Area for example that then has suddenly has a little bit of Magenta in it because of the transformation.
Or do you mean a pure gradiation change?
