Installed "iQuit" - Epson 1280 and Panther Problems Ended

Have heard everything from de-install Gimp, install borderless Gimp for
the Epson 1280; get update Panther 10.3.2; also take out the 1280 driver
and put in a 1270 driver; lie to your software (that's original enough); get
more drivers from Epson, etc.

"Your printer is controlled by Panther, not by your printer software."
says one support guru. I believe him.

I de-installed mYPATIENCE and have installed iQUIT. My day's already
brighter, that swelling in my back pocket is lessening, and I hope to
get mYSELF back 2Work before management comes back from
hERSHOPPING.

I will look into ImagePrint RIP. This is a very cerebral group of
people here, I value your advice.

Best regards - Ed

Panther and PS CS, Epson 1280.

The best thing I have done on my PowerBook G4 alum 15" is to go
online and order a used G3 beige; onto this computer I will
install OS 9 and, with a 50pin scsi card, will be able to use one
film scanner; with a usb pci adapter card I will be able to use
my Epson1280.

Panther controls your printer, not your printer software.

A friend says he rides Honda Gold Wing rather than a Harley is
that he bought it to ride not to work on. I feel the same about
computers.

I understand your pain. If Epson does not make a custom driver for
the 1280 designed for Panther than you're basically doomed. Unless,
a third party RIP, like ImagePrint who is now compatible with
Panther directly supports the 1280. If I were you, I'd keep an eye
out on eBay as I regularely see ImagePrint RIPs come up for sale
for dirt cheap.

What are you trying to do here? Gimp-Print supports the 1280 just fine.
