Hello, List
Several days ago i posted a question to another List and got good answers, thought not as specific as i would like.
So, i will make the question more specific and post it to this List.
When one is printing RGB images to a high/end inkJet printer, thru a rip that is converting the file to CMYK and one wants and expects the highest quality and fidelity, as in reproducing Fine Art photographs or paintings.Where the rip is quite capable of ink limiting by individual ink channel, including transition control and makes an excellent linearization.
How and why when making the profile for the media model does one implement GCR ?
i have been to GretagMacbeth's and Monaco's site and researched their documentation, i have crawled the web, i have found hundreds of posts and white papers describing UCR and GCR and its use in offset but precious little on How and Why Grey Component Replacement affects the image when printing to a high/end InkJet printer.
any light on the subject ?
thank you, John
