Happy new Year. I am a commercial photographer in DC. I became so
frustrated with calibration issues 16 months ago that I gave up
calibration, stopped printing for myself and relied on my labs to
produce good prints from digital output, which they have. Part of what
enabled me to do this was the fact that I started working on a Mac G4
Powerbook at that time and stopped using my CRTs.
I recently did a photoshop course on institutionally provided Dell LCDs
(probably 15" or 17"). While the color wasn't perfect, the pleasure of
working with the screen was great.
I am now 90% digital and I would like to have an LCD in my studio which
I can use as the center of my work flow to which I can edit and adjust
my photos visually. All of my work is photographic, so I don't have a
lot of the color issues related to print that most users have.
Jim Rich, always helpful, has informed me he is testing an Eizo Color
Edge CG21, which looks perhaps better than the Apple Studio display,
which seems to be most people's favorite LCD. It happens to cost in the
neighborhood of $2,600.
Is anyone using LCDs as their basic monitors and which are they?
Thanks. Sheppard Ferguson
