Negative Workflow

No, I don't want to profile negative film (pace, Ed Hamrick and VueScan followers everywhere).

Question: how do I scan negative film (ie, what driver settings do I use) so that the file eventually winds up in, say, AdobeRGB in PS7? I have Minolta sw and VueScan available.

In the past, I sometimes assigned my monitor space to the scan (after adjusting based on preview in the scanner driver), and then converted to AdobeRGB in PS. But this trip through monitor space never seemed like a great idea. Alternatives?

A shorter-winded version might be: what is an ICC-compatible workflow for negative film?

Armand
