No you need to set the profile to your system preferences>display which is
done automatically in most profiler packages. You're confusing the display
profile to be an adequate working space in Photoshop.

No you should set the Photoshop color policies to on, and a standard or
custom workflow. For you this maybe best at US Prepress Defaults if you keep
Adobe 98 as the basis for your working space , or customise this by changing
it to a) your custom camera profile b) sRGB and save it as Murdock's camera
policy.
For quick help I suggest you go to creativepro.com and look at all articles
by Bruce Fraser.
More long term is to by the book Real World Photoshop by the same author.
