They should at least say that an
instrument should be used to calibrate monitors in a production
environment.
Yes it's better to use a measurement device...but then again we don't
ship a calibration device with every Mac. We do ship the Calibrator
with every OS release though.
The last time I tried it, it did not just create slightly
inaccurate profiles, it created completely wrong profiles - nothing
like
what was entered in the UI.
Completely wrong profiles? I don't think I'd agree with that. It's
not going to be as good measuring with a device, but it does use EDID
info retrieved from the display to describe the display's
characteristics so it's not just a wild guess.
