I just came back from a twin Apple Cinema Display profiling session with
iMatch 2.03. For target white point, we started with 'native' but found late
on that it was making colors too blue. We figure 'native' must be around
6500K on the ACD. Our target image was a physical and a Lab Macbeth
ColorChecker II. We brought the calibrated WP to 5000K but found it was not
quite it. We finally settle for 5500K, gamma 2.2. We left the brightness set
all the way to the max on one of the two ACD and brought the other down just
a tad to match the WP luminances on both.
Now, I am having second toughts as to operating the ACD at its max
Brightness. For screen to proof matching I am not sure it's the best
setting. For sure the luminance range at the max brightness setting of the
ACD is huge but I am having second thoughts about how we're ever going to be
able to compare, side by side, the same image and expect an appearance
match?
