Fraser comments that the HP 7960's black and white prints come out
with a reddish cast, even though only (various-densities) gray inks
are supposedly used. If this is indeed the case, it seems surprising.
Also, the Canon i960's b&w prints are rated as "good" but with no
further comment; casts of other printers tested are at least
mentioned. Anyone care to comment or amplify a bit?
It seems suprising that black ink would have a sepia cast? Many inks, even carbon pigment ones, will have various degrees of this tint on differing papers. SInce its variable, it would be difficult to adjust for, even if you were willing to put colors into your black/gray inks.
