The confusion is compounded by the fact that most grey cards are not
spectrally uniform. I would have your colleague read Robin Meyers
(www.rmimaging.com) PDF on choosing the proper grey card as well as have
his/her students who shoot digitally, shoot with one of his digital grey
cards. Also remember the RGB values for grey depend on the gamma of your
display calibration, i.e 1.8 and 2.2 will yield different values.
