Photoshop divides the list and sub folders into type and space as you
already see either rgb or CMYK destination profiles.
Colorthink helps you manage your profiles by naming and repair , inspection
etc. There is a demo so go ahead and try it out.
I don't know of any way to create categories in Photoshop although...
