I am getting extremely grainly looking prints from Nikon D100 NEFs
Saved As .psd. I am using a new PowerBook G4 with Panther.
The graininess is not visible on-screen on my PowerBook nor a
friends H-P desktop, both using Photoshop CS.
I drag and drop the .Nefs onto the Photoshop CS icon in the dock, hit
Save, then File>Save As>.psd or .tiff.
Oddly enough, the grain is the same size whether the print is a 4x5
or letter-sized. Printing on my Epson 1280via the PowerBook or through
a friends PC using a Kodak/Encad results in an unacceptably grainy
print.
I had considered using Nikon View instead of Photoshop CS but that
wont work in Mac OS X.
Its almost as if the inkjet is set at 360 instead of 1228, but i
wouldn't know as the Epson menus aren't there anymore during the
printing process; I have installed Epson Stylus Photo 1280 beta driver
X1.2bA which allows me to access Utilities, but I haven't seen the
Epson GUI for Auto or Custom settings since using Panther.
Nikon/Panther issue? Nikon/Photoshop CS issue? Panther/Photoshop CS
issue?
Any ideas?
