Thinking?
I'm not sure but I think you might be getting confused by terminology. At the moment I can't remember Best's use of the terms but I often disagree with profile selection implementations.
Here's a few possible terms: input, output, source, destination, simulation, proof, proofer, printer, press, space... there are others.
You may be thinking in reverse to their terminology.....
I like to use terms in this manner:
source & destination
- refer to a specific color transformation using profiles
- are independent of workflow (destination does NOT refer to the final output space in a workflow)
- making an inkjet simulate a press would result in the press profile as the source and the inkjet as the destination
input and output - I avoid these as they can cause too much confusion
simulation, press - are OK for describing the source profile in a proofing transform
proofer, printer - are OK for describing the destination profile in a proofing transform
There is so much room for confusion in these and there is no standardization so each UI is different!
