Hi Carl
Range Targets I mentioned were for the OLDER C550 C-Scan
(pre-ColourKit) ie CMYK based scanner. You Have latest software. Your
Range Nos. are in LCH and are for EDITING when converting an already
scanned RGB to CMYK or other RGB space. On your model there isn't much
you can do to improve quality of scan setup before profiling. Make
sure you do the basic calibration first. However the Ranging (when
editing images prior to converting to CMYK) can be adjusted for
individual images or all (save in Job Sheets Input). Juggle "L" number
to get best highlight or shadow. I think defaults are 97.6 for white
(raise no. to get less) and 4 for black end (lower no. for more).
Adjust slider for cast correction. Is probably set in middle which
will remove about half of colour cast. Also can adjust CMY values
(independantly in v4). Do not make ANY adjustments to image of IT8
chart!! Apart from removing crap or straightening. You may need to
use the supplied utility to convert profile to a ColourKit one. This
has some extra tags. If you are not getting better profiles than
supplied canned Fuji ones (which are not bad on a new scanner) you may
need to edit profiles to get the result you want.
Good luck
Phil

U.K.
Phil, we have Fuji Lanovia Quattros with ColorKit v4. There are
Default Range
Target settings in the preferences that you can set prior to each
scan. I'll
try to hit the numbers that you suggested.
Carl.
