Wow. In practical terms, that's really high if you're trying to match another
stock. Typically we've had to get stock to less than 1 dE (preferably around
0.5), before the two stock are a good visual match.
If the stock you're printing on varies by up to 2 dE, it's not going
to match a target very consistently. It seems that expectation is well
ahead of the technology here in proofing.
[I'm impressed that you have come across a paper supplier that knows
what a delta E is. Perhaps those closer to the paper manufacture, rather
than being distant distributors have more of a clue.]
