I have a Spectrocam RE75 for reading print targets and monitors. The unit makes excellent readings,
and I have been very pleased with it overall. It works just fine when calibrating a monitor, or
reading single patches. I am having problems however getting it to work properly when reading
a printed target when I slide it along (scan) versus single patch readings.
It appears the communication between the hardware and software is not quite right.

The Spectrocam is serial, which means you are required to use an adapter to USB if you have newer MAC.
I'm using the Keyspan Twin serial adaptor. Have also tried several version of their drivers (1.7, 1.8, 1.9 for OS 9.2.2)
but no luck. There are advanced settings for the keyspan device...but I've no clue as to what they really do.

Have even run the device in both the Spectrocam software, and Colorblind and in OSX (in classic mode) but its still the
same issues....either loosing communication with device (says your scanning across too fast, or conversely, it will start
to display patch readings ahead of where you are sliding!...another words its reading ahead).

The Spectrocam software has settings as well...but its still not really working properly when those are tweaked either.
It is possible the hardware has developed a problem...but I think its a driver/setting issue.

Another thing.... it will only be found on Port two of the Keyspan device !!!???

One last thing....you can buy a PCI board that has 4 serial ports on it...wondering if that is more reliable
that the twin serial adaptor for what I'm doing? Its throughput is much higher...but not cheap ...$200. !

Any insight appreciated ;~)
