OK. Got my Iccolor in. This thing is VERY stringent about the exact
strip
paper width it will accept! I first started cutting "between" the
lines as
was indicated on each charts but that turned out to be too wide. Not by
much, mind you, but too wide nevertheless. I kept trying and trying to
find
a divine alignment to feed the strip in but it would never go, and
there
would always be that resistance which I did not want to force. I was

to repack the whole thing and send it back when I figured I'd try

the chart width to the inner lines on the chart and it finally
accepted it!
That's strange Roger. I just recently did a job where I stacked up 5
press sheets together and cut out all the ECI2002 charts at once. As
you can imagine, my registration wasn't perfect and had some charts cut
outside, between and inside the lines with some that were not even
square and they all ran thru my iCColor just fine, no complaints. I'd
check a couple of things: make sure you're using Gretag's "Edition 3"
charts AND make sure you've installed the latest firmware. The firmware
update did improve chart "tolerance" at least in my case. And as a
rule, I've had slightly better luck with 2-3 page charts as opposed to
the LONG single page charts.
It's interesting how this thing works. But I don't find it
particularely
fast. Are people finding the RS-232 connection faster or the USB
connection
faster? I'm on the RS-232 port for now.
USB is definitely faster compared to serial. As a "benchmark", it
should take around 13' for an IT8.7/3 target from start of measurement
till the data is transferred. ECI2002 should be between 15-18'.
Trust me, the iCColor is MUCH less sensitive to operator technique
compared to an Eye-One.

Terry
