This I see on all the drivers and makes one ask what is really going on, and
when the data stream can really be trusted to do what it should. Still
shocks me to see the summary comments that your carefully color managed
document has be tagged Generic RGB.
A long time ago John Z. posted a two page description of what happens in
raster printer drivers when printing out targets. This could be printing in
general but I don't want to assume anything. John also promised us that a
white paper was forthcoming on Colorsync in Panther. I hope that's not the
PDF just posted. As the next OsX update will be here soon maybe we can look
forward to unraveling the trail of transforms and tagging in the print
queue. If you'll be doing this for us Bruce, and Chris so much the better as
we've not had access to the important information on exactly how this works
at an opportune time. In theory this should be transparent and not something
to worry about. If it worked every time as planned we'd be confident but
when it doesn't we're on our own to try to understand what is going on.
Timely documentation could have taken us out of this chaotic state.
