Picking sources of magnetic fields can be hard. In one building I was in,
monitors over a large area were noticeably affected by a 50Hz flicker. It
turned out that one strip of fluorescent office lighting was wired up
with two way power switches, one switch at the front of the building,
one at the back. The two way wiring had been done by running a third wire
distance about 3-4 Meters from the two way pair, forming a current
loop with quite a large area, and something like 5 amps at 50Hz running
though it. The loop was in the ceiling space, while monitors below and
the floor, above were affected. The lesson was to keep your power circuits
tight !
