This is regarding Charles Rieger's posting on 6/11/04, and Chris Murphy's
reply on 6/12/04.
Pantone supplies CMYK simulation values to Adobe, for use in their
applications, which are consistent with the current version of the PANTONE
solid to process guide coated which was introduced in the summer of 2000.
In Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign, these values can be accessed from the
PANTONE solid coated, PANTONE solid uncoated or PANTONE solid matte libraries.
However, in order to display the explicit CMYK data supplied by Pantone, your
document MUST be in CMYK mode when the colors are added to the document. As
Chris mentioned, if you convert the document from RGB to CMYK, the data will
be converted using Adobe' internal color-management algorithms.
In Adobe Photoshop, Adobe has provided a separate PANTONE solid to process
library. In order to see the 'correct' CMYK conversions, this library must be
used. This is inconsistent with the workflow for Adobe Illustrator and Adobe
InDesign.

John Stanzione
