I am trying to use my Epson Stylus Pro 7500 with my new G5 and
Gimp-Print (4.2.6), since there is no Epson MacOsX driver for this
printer.
It took me first some time to find a solution for the "Printer not
responding" problem, a Panther USB problem, solved with a patch i
discovered on the net .
usbtb, I presume?
I can now send datas to the printer ... But I discovered now at
least two more problems: The paper list doesn't seems to be
complete as i cannot find the Watercolor paper i use.
There will be a watercolor paper in 5.0 (the first 5.0 beta should be
coming out fairly soon now). For now, I suggest using a matte paper.
It seems also color management strategy must be completely
different since there is no way to choose the print space as i
understood ... What makes me feel crazy is that the printer works
perfectly when i use it starting Classic, but Photoshop don't run
under Classic ... I would be happy if someone has gone through
this stuff and could share his experience ...
Gimp-Print doesn't have color management as you're used to it. It
does color correction of a kind, but it isn't end to end color
managed.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to color management in 5.0, but it's on
the list for 5.2. We need to determine which color management library
to use (littlecms and argyll are the two most obvious contenders).
