I never before realized that my mom was a "color professional." She
always turned off the florescents in her office when she used her
computer; said it made it "look a lot better."
The florescents in my office are always off when I am working on
color-critical projects. There are no other ambient light sources of
consequence.
For web reading and etc. at home I have a florescent light that is
pointed far enough away that it gives only a dim ambient glow to the
room.
Every time (in the days before I had a spectrophotometer) I used the
Apple calibration routine I came up with a target of 2.0 to 2.1 as
looking best.
