ColorSync utility, round 2

Time to revisit what9s going on in good ol9 ColorSync utility. In the
devices pane, the user is lead to believe there9s an association between the
devices installed and a profile. The quite limited instructions in Help say:

> Choosing color profiles for devices
>
> Different devices, such as a camera, printer, or display, have different color
> capabilities. ColorSync uses device color profiles to translate the color
> reproduction capabilities of your devices and ensure the most accurate color

OK, so what is going on here because no matter what profile I pick for my
Epson using any product to print (not only Photoshop), I get the same
output. What's the point here in associating profiles to devices (in this
specific case, an Epson)???
