Just got a new CG21 today in the mail ... It is night and day between this

technology and my old Mitsu900u CRT 19".
I've finally got to open some of the images I'd been used to on my old
Mitsu900u, and I must say, in all fairness, that what I am seeing now, on
this monitor, is nothing sort of stunning. For the record, I'm driving it at
5000K gamma 2.2, white point @ 85 Cd/m2 and black point @ 0.30 Cd/m2. In all
the images I opened so far I'm seeing incredibly smooth gradation, lots of
shadow details and gorgeous colors throughout. sRGB images from Phil
Askins's site are coming in with an astonishing level of depth and realism.
True, I can't compare to an Artisan (sadness) but what I'm seeing now is
really impressive -- no one is paying me to express my opinion, btw. If I
think the product sucks I'll say it out loud but if I think it deserve
praise I won't hesitate to say it too.
My current calibration is not as bad as I first thought it was, earlier in
the day. I'm finding it slightly on the greenish side. Nothing terrible.
Nothing hideous. Judging by my observations so far, nothing that cannot be
fixed through better calibration. Calibration? Always coming back to this
theme, in color management. Wonder why? ;-)
More to follow.
