Just got a new CG21 today in the mail ... It is night and day between this
technology and my old Mitsu900u CRT 19".
I first tried calibrating the Eizo with the help of ColorNavigator and my
EyeOnePro, since that's what Eizo recommends. Well, folks, that did not
produce pretty results, for reasons that are still unknown to me. I think
it's going to be one heck of a learning curve. Grays turned pinkish. Perhaps
that's a sure sign that my EyeOne will soon need to find its way to its
swiss creators? Perhaps not. Before jumping to conclusions, I figured I'd
try basICColor Display v2.5.5 with my EyeOne (I'm on 10.3.2). In case.
Having no further information at this stage on the product. Well, that
combination did produce better results, better grays and white, but still
short of my expectations. Having the new XR DTP-94 around, and knowing that
this version of Display supports this instrument now, I decided to give this
combination a spin. Better still below par. Something to do with the
measurements because I could clearly see, in Display's main window, that
when calibrating the white point, even though the software was progressively
approaching D50 chromaticities, by manipulating the video LUT, the
appearance of the resulting white did not 'look' D50 to me. I know. I know.
I am a tough customer. At that point, I quit basICColor Display to turn my
attention to MonacoOptix XR pro and the DTP-94. And that's the combination
that produced the best results of the bunch, so far. Still not quite what I
have in mind but very close nevertheless. My next step is to dive into the
OSD and what Eizo calls ColorNavigator 'Extra' mode while waiting for Eizo
tech support call. If anyone has any thoughts, good or bad, please consider
sharing them here or offline. It'll save me some of the learning pain.
