A modest proposal

  • Subject: A modest proposal

May I make a general request to all who read this?

Please, PLEASE, stop using abbreviations as if everyone else knows what you
are saying. Some of us do not. As a matter of fact, at times we have no clue
whatsoever.

For example, dear Roger Breton, I appreciate your knowledge and expertise,
but what is "NCA"? "Non-Commissioned Airplane"? "New Chewy Appetizer"?

If you wish to use an abbreviation, please be considerate and do it at least
after ONE instance of spelling out the unabbreviated version (as is custom
in professional editing).

For example, if you want to use "NCA", write "New Chewy Appetizer (NCA)", or
whatever else it is that it means.

Just a modest proposal. Thank you all, otherwise, for the high quality of
this forum.
