Hello again.

1. For tagged images, QuarkCMS still uses the embedded profile as source

My take on this is that if the CMYK images are tagged there are no
surprises. The only chance for unexpected behavior would be if the images
are not tagged to any color space or to the wrong color space.
3. If you try to proof to a CMYK device, RGB images get proofed correctly,
but CMYK images do not because the destination (proofer) is CMYK. So to
proof you must turn OFF this checkbox - which may cause embedded profiles
to get used that you don't intend to use when printing the document.
Now this I don't understand. It would make sense if it said ON instead of
OFF above.
Would it work if all CMYK images were tagged with the press profile?
Logic would indicate that for final output such images would not be
converted no matter the state of the "CMYK sources to destination" checkbox.
And that the proofer would simulate the press output if both the "Composite
simulates separation" and the "CMYK Sources to destination" are checked.
Thanks in advance.
