In the early days of relatively simple 4 color dye-based printers, a
spectral data engine allowed Aurelon to "fingerprint" a condition.
That was a linearization and form of profile wrapped into one.
Today, with the increased range of devices out there, and with the
better ICC profiling options, Aurelon merges its technology for
calibration with 3rd party profiling.
Being fully ICC aware, it respects embedded profiles and converts to
the user-defined output. Canned profiles are available for common
media. User-created calibration/ICC profiles are very easily created
through an intuitive interface.

I would still like to understand how Aurelon used to differ, if indeed it
did differ, from standard ICC-based RIPs. I had never heard of Aurelon
before today, and any brief description of its workings would be welcome.
