Susan,
I am somewhat new to color, but am finding the following book helpful.
Perhaps you can find it at a local bookstore and see if it would be helpful
for you as well. Adobe RGB is mentioned on pages 266, 285, 286, and on page
454 under 'Choosing an RGB space'.
"Real World Color Management", ISBN: 0201773406,
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201773406/qid=1079979087/sr=2-
1/ref=sr_2_1/103-4844807-9207011#product-details
Feel free to email me directly if you have any questions on the book.

have had no luck in getting an answer to my question. Perhaps I am not

In Photoshop7, when you are making your Color Settings, under Working Spaces,
you can select your RGB, CMYK, and Grey working spaces. For example, you
could select Adobe 1998 if you want a wider color gamut. I have been working
in ColorSync RGB - Generic RGB Profile for as long as I can remember, and I
have had no problems getting the color exactly right in my prints (after a
little tweaking, of course). I like ColorSync because it seems to produce
very reliable results, and, I have a ColorSync display.
However, I began to wonder if this ColorSync Working Space is an actual color
work space like Adobe 1998 is, or if it is something different.
If it IS a color work space, then does anyone know what the gamut is,
especially compared to Adobe 1998?
Also, does anyone know if you select ColorSync as your printer profile, will
this work ONLY if you have selected the ColorSync Working Space in your Color
Settings, or will the ColorSync printer profile work regardless of color
space (i.e., it will make the necessary adjustments)?
I have a beige desktop G3upgradedtoG4, OS 9.2, Photoshop7, and I am using an
Epson 7500.
Please forgive me if these are silly questions, but they came up when I
upgraded from PS 5.5 to PS 7 and did not make a note of my color space
preferences and tried to print an image created in PS 5.5 and the colors were
quite a bit off and I had to backtrack and re-select ColorSync as the Working
Space.
I would appreciate any elucidating comments, referral for further reading,
anything else relevant.
Thanks!
susan
