Last week, I spent some time comparing certain color features and
characteristics of both of these rips that drive Epson UltraChrome printers.
And in that process it became clear that to that each person has to define
what they mean by color accuracy.
Do you mean colorimeterically accurate or will the rip produce pretty
pictures that have details that portray the original in a reasonable way
right out of the box? Both rips produce good results, but if you send each
rip the same image you will get a visually different result.
As for canned vs custom profiles, both rips come with pretty good profiles.
But IP only comes with RGB profile and CB comes with CMYK. And you can
create custom profiles for each product.
Now if your question is about is one rip better than another, then that is a
hard question to answer. So IMHO I have found that both of these rips are
very capable and are well over the threshold for creating good results with
Epson Ultrachrome printers.
So if you buy into that point, you then might need consider other key
options such as the cost of the product and support etc.
