Jim,
I guess I'm looking for "accuracy" in terms of matching (reasonably) my
calibrated/profiled monitor. I did do a quick demo of both RIPS, and yes,
out of the box they did produce nice prints, though I'm not sure about just
how accurately them matched the original file, viewed on the monitor. I
must say that the canned Epson profiles for the 2200 are pretty good. I've
tried to improve upon them by building profiles using i1 Match and the
larger RGB target (Atkinson), though I've never been able to make one that
was necessarily better than Epson's.
One thing that was a bit bothersome about the RIPs was that they all printed
the image about an inch or so down from where it should have been on the
page. ColorBurst tech said it had something to do with the Epson printer
that they had no control over. I guess I could just adjust the position of
my image on the page to compensate for the difference, though I haven't
tried to see if it works.
