OK. You meant 'measured neutrality'. So it's neutral relative to D50/2.
Basically, we adapt to paper white and judge all other colors in that
context.
Can't argue with that. However I'm grateful for reminding me.
My experience has been that a really neutral neutral from,
for example, the Fuji Pictrography, looks yellow, while a neutral
that measures a little cold looks OK.
Oh? You mean a measured D50/2 gray sample off a Fuji Pictrography (nice
printer btw, don't you think?) looks yellow? Because the base is slightly on
the bluish side?
Gretag software offers an option called Paper Gray Axis, that biases
the neutrals relative to the paper color.
So that option makes the gray axis not neutral relative to D50/2 but
relative to the particular shade of the paper you say? Only works with
Perceptiual Intent, I hear.
I find it very useful...
