What is so objectionable about Perceptual rendering when converting from RGB

Anyone serious about proofing isn't going to use a format
in which rendering hasn't been completed down to the
final output devices native colorspace, as input for
the proofer. You just can't rely on the image setter RIP
and the proofing RIP doing the conversion from RGB etc. in an
identical manner (This is the very reason our RIP typically
has "RGB alarm" turned on in proofing workflows). Of course
if you aren't concerned about the finer nuances of the color
reproduction in the proof, then this may not be an issue.

Graeme Gill.
