Hello Members,
I've been following the posts for some time now and finally have a
question of my own.
Here's the situation.
We're a digital imaging facility specializing in high end retouching
and digital photography. A few months ago, with the help of a very
good (and very patient) color consultant, we created output profiles
for our Approval XP Digital Proofer. We have a RGB workflow and only
convert before going to print. The output profile created was for a
warm paper stock (actually almost yellow) since most of the projects we
work on are usually for magazines. We are now expanding our paper
selection to a "bluer"/"cleaner white" paper and the profile seems to
be holding up all right. However, I'm wondering if we could be causing
color issues when it goes to press considering we're using a profile
created from a yellower paper stock to print proofs to a bluer paper
stock which we use to color adjust the file.
I have also created new output profiles based on the new stock, but the
outputs seem to be heavier on the magenta and black when printed from
the new profile compared to the outputs from the old profile. If I were
to edit the profile with GretagMacbeth's Profile Editor to correct for
this, will I be in some way causing color issues when it goes to press?
For instance, we're adjusting the file as per the proof, our proof
looks dead-on perfect to us, but looks cyan when it's printed from a
press because I adjusted the magenta in our approval's output profile.
Is this possible?
I look forward to any insight anyone can provide.
Feel free to ask questions.
Thank you,
Vanita
