If I compare with the way I can accomplish the same work in InDesign (when
it does work predictably -- see my earlier post today) I'd rather
cross-render from RGB than having to convert to CMYK first. I like to fly by
the seat of my pants! Bear in mind that Illustrator supports soft proofing
the same way as Photoshop does it. So, in effect, even though I design in
RGB, I can softproof in CMYK. That way, you could say that I "preview with
confidence" before turning the data to my printer profile -- too bad I don't
have a Cyclone RIP to do this ...
