My take on this is that sRGB would be a safer color container than AdobeRGB
(depending on the nature of the original color matter -- very saturated
colors or low chroma subjects like portraits).
Of course, embedding the profile would not hurt at all. A small ReadMe file
could increase the chances of proper usage too. I never understood why large
commercial services like PhotoDisc and Sozaitjen don't embed their profile
in their image in the first place? I know PhotoDisc used to make their
PhotoDiscRGBi available on their FTP site separately. Don't think they still
do it. But there are just oo many companies that sell their images with no
color prescription whathsoever. To me, this is plain irresponsible : it is
the same attitude as the ostrich that berries its head in the sand (forgive
my direct transation of this proverb).
