Well, not all RIP are created equal, as you may very well know. I
personally make a point to always tag ALL my color images regardless of
color space or where they are going to. But I have to mention that I
always send along some kind of warning with my files to the effect that
they are color managed. It sometimes makes for some nice conversation
with printers...
Otherwise, what this suggest is that tagging images, regardless of
type, is dangerous? Or that there is something inherently 'risky' (an
accident waiting to happen) in using ICC color management. Sorry, I
respect everyone's opinion on this list, but I can't personally buy
that.

Its been suggested that embedding CMYK with ICC profiles can be
dangerous
unless you have had a very specific conversation with your printer. The
logic being that you run the risk of an unintentional CMYK conversion
in
their RIP software.
