The Kodak Check-Up Kit comprises of a set of 7 digital reference images
(supplied in sRGB and the original scanner colorspace) and a corresponding
set of 7 photographic prints from a profiled photographic printer. The Kit
provides a visual reference for checking the accuracy of a profiled monitor
and viewing conditions. One print includes a RHEM strip to verify 5000k
illumination and also includes a comparison of skin tones printed in colour
and greyscale. The pack can also be used for colour matching custom prints
against the supplied reference prints.
Not wanting to reawaken the sRGB v Adobe RGB discussions of earlier this
year, but the reference prints are based on sRGB for 2 key reasons:
1) With the primary use being to verify monitor accuracy, most monitors can
only display an sRGB gamut. An accurate match to an AdobeRGB print would not
be achievable, hence sRGB.
2) Most consumer cameras (and photoshop) default to sRGB. The images and
prints being in sRGB is comparable to the majority of users colour setting.
The product started shipping today and further details are available from:
