I recently provided photography to a client whose material is

Is it not true that viewing images on screen provides little ultimate
guarantee as to how the images will print either in tone or how they
will render in sharpness?
Is this as simple as 'call me when you have the hard proofs?....or
does
this response come across as pedantic or elitist?

Sounds to me like the designer only trust his monitor when it comes to
proofing? But it's not true that a monitor will render images the same
as a
press, that's plain ludicrous and fraught with ignorance. Don't get
sucked
into that corner. Unless this designer has Romote Director from ICS???
Which
I'd be surprised he has. Even then, to my knowledge, Remote Director
can't
show the screen dot, can it! The monitor would have to have such an
incredibly high resolution as to celarly show 150 lpi rosettes? Such a
monitor does not exist yet if you ask me.
You have nothing to lose by working with the guy. C'mon, Roger - you're
disqualifying the soft proof because you can't see the dots?
