I do. Safari, TextEdit, Preview, Finder, iPhoto, etc, all use one set

Yes but this doesn't answer the other side - Safari color mgmt - which
is about more than just images. Will Safari in Tiger apply the same
color management policy for untagged elements, regardless of whether
they are images, video, animation, or markup colors? If not, then the
question isn't really answered.
I think you're just answering the question of whether untagged *images*
in Safari will be handled the same way as untagged images in other
apps; that's a good start, but doesn't answer where this thread has
ended up.
Currently in Panther I don't see this major inconsistency between apps
some of you are talking about, I mean Safari and Preview both respect
embedded profiles. iPhoto tries to and succeeds except for the first
time an image is imported, and that's a bug. It's not a design flaw,
it's not the result of their product manager trying to sabotage color
management, it was a bug and it's fixed. Try not to paint the picture
worse than it really is. Hey I know I'm bummed about the election,
maybe some of you are too, but geez, lighten up some huh?
I don't see an inconsistency in the type of scenario you're talking
about - for images with embedded profiles. But most of this thread has
been devoted to handling of untagged images; which, as I've pointed
out, is by necessity working one way in Safari - but seems to work a
different way (for other reasons) in other apps.
In other words, Safari handles untagged images as if they are in
monitor space - which I agree is the right way for now (back to my
first question).
Other apps seem to handle untagged images as if they are in Default
RGB, *not* monitor space, right? This is where the disconnect is.
