"Assume" means no color transform taking place, right? The RGB data is
"assumed" to be in monitor space so it is just pass straight to the
video
card without any application or OS intervention. Is that how it
presently
works?
Right, well mostly. It's not without any OS intervention, because
ColorSync is being called, but since the source (the image) and the
destination (the display) both have the same profile, the match is not
performed.
Imagine, "none of Apple's apps use these". That would have been the
perfect
hook for leaving me tell Safari what to "assume".
Is that going to work differently in Tiger?
No that will be the same for Tiger, those are intentionally not used by
Preview and Safari.
