We just got the 9600 after several years of using a Roland FJ400 and we
are very impressed.
The output is exquisite. we use ImagePrint as a rip and I dont bother
to proof the image any more before I commit (Except for the 8-12 ft
prints). The match from screen to print is quite predictable, since we
adhere to Color management - our displays are calibrated and profiled
and so is the paper/ink combinations. We do fine-art printing on very
smooth matte archival printing using the Utrachrome ink-set. I have
not tried glossy, but my impression is that metamarism is a problem
throughout the industry on gloss paper.
I am a photographer, who also works for advertising agencies, so i
recently posted a similar questions, since I'm interested in making
"proofs" or reference prints that are realistic in what could be
expected on press and that press people dont just toss, saying a
jet-ink print has no relevance. One question I have is what paper to
use ?
The ability to match press runs -I'm sure many contributors here can
answer to ....
In regards to speed the 4000 is reportedly maybe twice as fast, but
19" wide bed.
Hope this helps.

Hello all,
We are looking at buying a large format printer and one of them that
catches my eye is the Epson Stylus Pro 9600. Does anyone out there
have any real world incite on this printer in relation to gamut,
speed, and the ability to match press runs. Any other info about this
printer or a RIP for this printer would be helpful.
Thanks
