I think members of this list can speak for themselves. It would be remiss of
me not to warn about various benchmarking tricks that I'm aware of, if
such things are not widely known.
Just because you can't get your head around the concept doesn't mean it
can't or doesn't work. I could go into detail on how the process works but
you could garner this from the marketing literature if you actually looked.
Better yet, why not try the product? Maybe you could learn something new for
your software product?
Like much marketing literature, it's big on claims and poor on technical
detail, hence, un-enlightening. If you think you understand it, then perhaps
you might like to explain it, and contribute something to this forum.
I'm always interested in hearing about and discussing new or different
approaches, and evaluating their merits and limitations.
I am not contesting your background or experience in color science just
asking you to refrain on commenting products you have no experience with.
That does not help others on this list.
You obviously know the list members far better than I do.
True, that was a leading statement that I didn't back up with a comparison.
I have worked with all the leading RIP solutions (it's my business!) and
never seen as tight match of a contract proof (or press proof) to the GMG
inkjet proof. But don't take just my opinion, the IPA proofing report
confirms what I have experienced with my own eyes. Sure the IPA report is
somewhat flawed but it's a better barometer than just one person's lofty
opinion on a process or product. Thanks for your comments and input, lets
end this thread.
The IPA proofing report was interesting, and perhaps can be inferred to indicate
that GMG produced an very good technical result, but little more than that given that
the same chart was used for profiling and verification.
Several people have reported that the GMG proof was an excellent visual match, and
I have no reason to doubt their judgement. The flaws in the testing mean that many
others were not able to compete on a level playing field unfortunately.
Graeme Gill.
