Better in some ways but I was underwhelemed. First, the new instrument is
said to be much more precise and all that. I can't say one way or another
that's true or not. I can say that the process is VERY slow (like 15 minutes
to calibrate and profile an LCD).
It is much better appears better than the original version. So far as speed goes you obviously had a tail wind to help it along – mine was closer to 20 minutes. To be fair I think the final beta was improved a little.
Many users felt Optical was a bit too difficult for
the market CV is going after.
The new wizard interface is a big improvement but it’s still a bit ass-about face. There’s also some carry over from OptiCAL that could easily have been better integrated.
I was kind of surprised to see no counterweight on the new Sypder for use
with an LCD but it "held on" and stayed on the Powerbook but the screen is
angled back. Not sure how well it would stay in place on a desktop LCD.
The weight was only missing from the beta package. The shipping version should have a weight.
Personally I think i1Match3 and i1Display 2 is a better solution. That’s not to say that many will be more than happy with SpyderPro2
