“Monitor Proofing” - Issues and Realities

DESCRIPTION
***********
Monitor proofing IS a reality !!!

Computer monitor and software technology improvements have allowed
the “soft” proof to become increasingly accepted as a contract quality proof.
BUT......can we be confident that phospers in CRT’s and filters in
flatpanels will be accurate and consistent with ink on substrate?
And when will customers accept this proofing methodology?

Our expert IPA Partner Consultant, Linda Manes Goodwin of Manes Goodwin
Associates, will lead our discussion on both the BUSINESS and TECHNICAL
issues of monitor proofing while also challenging two leading monitor
proofing manufacturers on the issues facing this new technology...
Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) and Integrated Color Solutions (ICS).

Specific issues to be addressed include:
 - Definitions of “soft proofing”, “on-line collaborative proofing”
    and “monitor contract proofing”?”
 - The components of monitor proofing and the importance of
    proper viewing conditions
 - What proof does your customer “want” versus what do they actually “need”?
 - How does the technology “fit” in the total creative to customer
    approval workflow?
 - How do you deal with monitor proofs at press side ? Does the
pressman really need a proof ?
 - How do we get print buyers comfortable with a monitor proof.?
 - How do we “certify” a monitor proof for accuracy (SWOP) ?
 - How do we deal with spot colors and extended gamut colors?
 - What about reviewing proofs and archiving for legal reasons?
 - How will monitor proofing help me improve both my own business
AND my customers printing business in the value chain?
