Rahul,
Delta E94 is better than Delta E76, which is the original version. In
my opinion Delta E76 should not be used if the question you are asking
is "how close are these two colors appear to be?" It's useful
mathematically if you care about equidistance in LAB, but since it
isn't at all uniform like that it's terribly misleading as a form of
color appearance evaluation. Delta Ecmc is better than Delta E94, and
Delta E200 (not sure if that's superscripted as 00 or 2000) is better
than Delta Ecmc. I prefer using Delta E2000. None of them are perfect
yet, but the algorithms are getting much better (and much more
complex).
I will use Delta E76 periodically to compare data sets for possible
measurement errors for the same device and media. It's really easy to
type in the Delta E76 formula into an Excel spreadsheet.
