With Canon drivers on windows, it is essential in Photoshop's print with
preview to go to advanced, colour settings, and then to choose 'Print space'
and then select the profile for the printer (which on XP is listed, probably
Canon BJ something) you will then have perfect colour.
Perfect color from a canned profile... perhaps you exagerate a hair! I find the Canon 900/9000 series printers to have profiles a bit less exacting than the latest Epson profiles, but certainly servicable for general use. They do not have the precision or saturation available from custom profiles, however...
Canon canned profiles are among the most accurate I have come across for
desktop printers, but this anomaly means that many people suffer poor colour
from otherwise excellent printers.
This is how most of the serious inkjet users I deal with apply any printer profile, so its not too much of an anomaly... and does not explain the fact that most of these users then move on to custom profiles after trying the Canon ones.
